About Me

My photo
I'm a 23 year old Business Systems Analyst planning a DIY-heavy wedding to the love of my life on 9 . 10 . 11. Other then wedding planning, I spend most of my time trying to stay in shape or playing with my 3 dogs...Gabby, Dudley, and Tyson. I hate cleaning and almost never go a day without wearing something purple, and I hope you can keep up with my ADD blogging style!

What You Have to Look Forward to!

In an attempt to organize myself in preparation to grow this blog into something great (I like to organize, a lot...you'll come to see how OCD I really am over time I'm sure) I looked through the list of posts that I started on my beloved WeddingBee and here is what you have to look forward to while I try and recap the past 5 months:

1. The Evolution of a Monogram
2. The Venue Saga
3. “Childish” Theme
4. A Lovely Timeline (yes, I am so OCD I have had a timeline of DIY projects since August)
5. Choosing to DIY Flowers, No Matter How Ominous That May Seem
6. Dress Shopping Excitement
7. The Development of My Inspiration Board (up to this point)
8. Engagement Photos
9. The Sleeve or the Necklace?
10. Save the Dates
11. I Took the Plunge and Purchased a Cricut!
12. We’ve almost completely caught up at this point, so a little recap of purchases/projects started
13. My First Bridezilla Moment
14. I’m So Excited, and Yet Terrified at the Same Time…Starting DIY Invites
15. Wedding Bands - Where to Even Start!

I'm sure there are things I'm missing and when I think of those things I'll have to come back and write about them, but I think that list is a pretty good start.

I hope you're as excited about this as I am!

How to start making up for not blogging for 5 months...

I finally got the motivation to start my own wedding blog, and although I've got a ton to say, and 5 months to make up for, I figure the best thing to do is start with the proposal story. So, here it goes...

First of all, my proposal story is proof not only of how well fi truly knows me, but also of how much he wanted that evening to be beyond perfect for me. I know he was so nervous about making it a memorable night, and he really couldn't have done a better job.

In my mind it was just a regular Thursday (June 17, 2010 to be exact) and when I got home from work and the dogs went crazy (as usual) fi was already home (again, as usual). I walked in and noticed fi got Gabby, my 2 year old American Bulldog, a new collar. When I mentioned it, fi simply replied "Yeah" and stood awkwardly in the kitchen with her.

After some more awkward standing, he goes "I got her a new tag, too." And I (not catching on that this was something special) simply replied, "Well why'd you do that? She didn't need a new tag."

At this point I am fully aware that something is going on because fi is acting very weird. He finally told me to look at it, and instead of a normal dog tag it said "Amanda" on the front, and "Will you marry me!" (there was no ? in the dog tag machine, hahaha) on the back.

He then proceeded to try to get down on one knee, but got mauled by the dogs, and it was a struggle to get the ring to me.

And just when you thought the festivities were over, he then continued to give me a gorgeous orchid plant (my favorite), a new bead for my Pandora bracelet, and take me to The Melting Pot (my favorite restaurant).

It was the best Thursday night ever.
